Paul Nahi has over 20 years experience in both entrepreneurial and multinational high technology companies. Most recently, Paul was the CEO of Crimson Microsystems, a fabless semiconductor company specializing in large scale SONET ICs for the telecommunications industry, with customers in Russia, India and the United States. Prior to Crimson, Paul was the CEO and co-founder of Accelerant Networks, a semiconductor company that designed and developed intelligent multi-gigabit transceivers. Accelerant was acquired by Synopsis, Inc. Prior to Accelerant, Paul served as General Manager of the Communications and Media Divisions for NEC Electronics. Before NEC, Paul was the Senior Director for Diamond Multimedia where, as an early member of the executive team, he helped grow Diamond from a small, privately held enterprise to a publicly traded company with offices worldwide and hundreds of millions of dollars in revenue. Paul has a BS in Computer Engineering and an MBA from the University of Southern California.
Raghu Belur has more than 15 years of experience in the clean energy and high technology industries. Prior to Enphase, he developed high-speed optical communication technology for Cerent, which was later acquired by Cisco Systems for $7 billion. Before Cerent, Mr. Belur was an engineer at the Indian Institute of Science, where he played a key role in the development of an alternative energy gasification system. He co-founded Enphase Energy with Mr. Fornage in 2006. Mr. Belur has a MSEE from Texas A&M University and an MBA from the Haas School of Business at UC Berkeley.
Robert Schwartz is Managing Director of Third Point Ventures, the Sunnyvale, CA based Venture Capital arm of Third Point LLC, a registered investment adviser based in New York with approximately $3 billion of assets under management. In addition to serving on the Board of Directors at Enphase Energy, he is currently a Board member of Solar Notion, LitePoint, Liga Systems, Sequoia Communications, Inapac Technology, and Technocom Wireless.
Since 1984, Mr. Schwartz has been the President and majority shareholder of RF Associates North, Inc., a leading technical manufacturer's representative firm in Northern California. Mr. Schwartz holds two undergraduate Engineering degrees from the University of California, Berkeley.
Mr. Wilson began his career at AT&T, where he held technical, sales and marketing positions. In 1990, he joined Wilbraham & Monson Academy, a 200-year old private secondary school located in central Massachusetts, where he was Director of External Affairs and held positions in Admissions, Development and Financial Assistance. He later joined Montague Corporation, a manufacturing business where he was a general manager involved in all aspects of the business. In 1998, Mr. Wilson joined RockPort Partners, a merchant bank specializing in the energy and environmental sectors, and helped form the venture fund in 2001.
He currently serves on the Boards of Directors of Davidson Instruments, EcoSMART Technologies, Hydropoint Data Systems and Pionetics Corporation, and is an observer to the Boards of Directors of NeoPhotonics Corporation and NanoGram Corporation.
Mr. Wilson received a BA in History and Economics from Brown University and an MBA from Harvard Business School.
Madrone invests on behalf of members of the Walton Family with a long-term, patient capital approach. Jamie leads Madrone's efforts in sustainability and alternative energy. Prior to Madrone, Jamie was a technology growth capital investor at TA Associates, a leading US private equity firm. Before TA, he worked as a Product Manager at Cisco Systems and as a strategy consultant at the Boston Consulting Group. Jamie currently serves on the Board of Directors at Fluidic Energy, Solyndra, Achates Power, and the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum. He serves on the Advisory Board for Rockport Capital Partners and The Global Environment Fund. Jamie earned an AB degree with high honors from the Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs at Princeton University and an MBA from the Stanford University Graduate School of Business, where he was an Arjay Miller Scholar.
Ben Kortlang is a Partner with Kleiner Perkins Caufield & Byers where he focuses on growth-stage greentech investing.
Prior to KPCB, Ben worked at Goldman Sachs for 8 years, most recently co-heading Goldman's Alternative Energy Investing business. In this capacity Ben managed Goldman's multi-billion dollar portfolio of alternative energy investments including Horizon Wind Energy, SunEdison, First Solar and Iogen.
Prior to this, Ben led the private equity investing business within Goldman's Special Situations Group, before which he was a Vice President in Goldman's investment banking group focusing on Industrials and Natural Resources.
Prior to joining Goldman Sachs, Ben was an Associate with A.T. Kearney where he focused on strategic and operations consulting in the energy, manufacturing, packaging, transportation and communications industries. Before A.T. Kearney, Ben was a Business Analyst at National Australia Bank in strategic planning and macroeconomic forecasting.
Ben holds a Bachelor of Business (Economics & Finance) from RMIT University, a Bachelor of Commerce and an Honors degree in Econometrics from University of Melbourne and an MBA from the University of Michigan.
Through cycles of change, Neal’s investment thesis has been to find entrepreneurs with domain expertise and the fine art of listening. At the end of the day, customers decide whether startups will succeed or not and without listening to customers, entrepreneurs are seldom successful. This thesis has served him well through investments in category creating companies like Brocade, Informatica and Shiva.
Neal balances the stresses of his workload by giving back to the community. In addition to serving on over a dozen boards of Bay portfolio companies, he also serves on the Board of EMQ Children and Family Services (a.k.a. Eastfield Ming Quong). Neal's leadership helped establish the Entrepreneurship and Innovation Program at the University of Washington Business School. Neal made the largest gift ever from an alumnus to the University of Washington.
Last but not least, Neal is a passionate college sports fan. He is very actively involved with The University of Washington basketball and football programs. To support these athletic programs at his alma matter, Neal sponsored the Dempsey Indoor Training Stadium at the University of Washington. Neal has a B.A. from the University of Washington.
