D380 "TwinPack" Microinverter

D380 Microinverter

The D380 “TwinPack” Microinverter is comprised of two Enphase Microinverters in a single enclosure and an innovative cabling system, designed to reduce Balance-of-System costs and installation time. The D380 has a black anodized housing which improves aesthetics and allows for better thermal dissipation. The D380 TwinPack is optimized for commercial installations, but it is applicable to both commercial and residential installations.

Benefits

The D380's "two-in-one" enclosure cuts in half the number of microinverter units needed for an installation. In addition, the D380's new cabling system reduces the number of interconnections and junction boxes by 33%.

New Cabling System

D380 Cable

The D380 utilizes an innovative "trunk and drop" cabling system. This new approach makes it even easier to connect microinverter units, and the 12 AWG trunk cable increases current capacity, allowing for 20A branch circuits. This means that you can have more modules per branch circuit:

  • 240v: 20 modules (10 TwinPacks)
  • 208v: 30 modules (15 TwinPacks)

FAQ

How many modules can be connected to a D380?
You can connect up to two modules to a single D380.
Does each of the inverters in the D380 have its own MPPT?
Yes. Each inverter has its own independent MPPT.
Can I mix and match modules on the same D380?
Yes. You have the ability to install two different modules on the same D380 as long as each module is listed on the Enphase module compatibility list.
Will the D380 work with a single module?
Yes. Each inverter is independent of the other. It can operate with a single module.
Can each of the modules be oriented in two different directions?
Yes.
Are the number of modules on a single branch circuit different with the D380 than the M190?
Yes. Up to 33% more modules per branch circuit.
Where is the D380's AC output cable?
The D380 uses an AC trunk cable assembly, which is separate from the inverter.
What if I have odd number of modules in my installation?
The D380 can operate with a single module, so the last D380 will have one unconnected inverter.
Can I have an installation with both M190 and D380 products?
Yes. The M190 and D380 can be used in the same installation. However, they have to be on separate branch circuits.
Does the D380 have monitoring?
Yes. The D380 continues to use the Enphase power line communication technology for monitoring. Each of the modules and inverters are independently monitored.
Do I lose production from both modules if the D380 fails?
It depends on where the failure occurs:
  • AC side – you may lose both modules
  • DC side – you may only lose production from one module
  • The monitoring system will alert you of failures.
