"Our solar installer recommended the Enphase system because we could install modules on multiple roof facings, and it mitigates the effect of shading from our trees."

Chris Eich, Homeowner

Four Roof Angles, One Inverter

The Eich family wanted to install solar power in their home for environmental reasons, but quickly found that the economics would be daunting. Their home had multiple roof angles on different planes, and most estimates included up to four inverters to produce enough energy to power the home.

The Microinverter Difference

The design of their home made solar power cost-prohibitive for the Eich family until Borrego Solar Systems presented them with a solution using the Enphase Microinverter System. Enphase Microinverters are small devices that attach to the racking beneath each solar module and send AC power directly to the home’s load center, eliminating the need for a central inverter and its associated wires, cables and mounting equipment. Using Enphase Microinverters dramatically reduces the amount of hardware needed for a solar power system, and makes the system much more feasible for a home with limited roof space.

In addition to its design flexibility, the Enphase system also provides 24 hour monitoring of the system through the Enphase Enlighten website. The owners can log in to the Enlighten website at any time and check to see that their solar power system is operating properly. They can also ask the system to send alerts in the event of an unexpected change in production, so that any problem can be immediately addressed.

Result

  • Dramatic cost savings for complex roof
  • Far less equipment needed
  • Peace of mind with 24 hour monitoring
